I wasn't sure if I could scan this photo in...but I guess it almost worked. This was in yesterday's newspaper and Zac couldn't have been more excited. The story is that the 3rd grade held a market day. The students were asked to "sell" some inexpensive goods or services to their classmates. Zac and I had decided to make Pokemon and Bakugan bookmarks. But no...that wasn't competitive enough for Zac's dad. Those of you who know Todd understand this completely. Anyway, it was Todd's idea to sell goldfish. Yep, real live swimming goldfish. Todd picked up the first 60 fish a couple of nights before the market. We lost 15-20 over the next 24 hours. So the night before, after a quick stop at Wal-Mart, we were back up to 60+. These survived better because now Todd had added a pump to the water. I drove Zac and the fish to school the next morning. The kids were so surprised to see real fish. Zac had been advertising during the week, and the whole class thought he would be bringing goldfish crackers.

Parents weren't allowed at the market, but when Zac came home, I got the full report (and 6 leftover fish). The fish were a hit. The line for his "booth" stretched into the hall and he earned the most "lucky bucks" in the 3rd grade. He walked taller for several days after this. Congrats Zac & Dad!
I love Todd's idea. It's great when you can give your kids that extra boost of confidence. Way to go Zac!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea! I wouldn't be able to do it (with my luck I'd end up killing them all just before the market opened...that's just me...), but it's still a great idea!
