Good News/Bad News

Poor Zac! That's all we can say about Zac's spring. It's been a rough one for him. First of all after having a cold virus in March, he developed a vascular condition called HSP (Henoch-Schonlein purpura ). It's pretty uncommon and it usually affects children in the spring. Todd and the faculty at the clinic had to do some research before diagnosing Zac. You can Google it to read the details. Basically, it left a horrible rash all over his legs and arms. He also had a lot of joint pain with it similiar to arthritis. There's really not anything you can do for it and he has spent all spring trying to keep it hidden. Zac did not want me to take any pictures and absolutely did not want any on the blog. Finally, two months later, the rash is starting to fade. Thank goodness, because he's very ready to start wearing shorts. Then a couple of weeks ago, he was blessed with some kind of stomach flu. The last blow to his spring was a blow to the face on Monday. He was standing too close to a friend with a metal bat and got clobbered. He broke his upper tooth off at the gumline and his bottom tooth in half...not to mention swollen and bruised lips. Here's the gruesome photo just before we went into the dentist's office...
Four hours, a lot of pain, and $500.00 later.....

However there was some good news for Zac. He has been working so hard on his Bear requirements for cub scouts. He wanted to earn his Bear and his Religious Knot before we moved. He got both badges (and his Bear Claw ice cream) on Tuesday...right after he finished at the dentist. CONGRATULATIONS ZAC!!!!!!!
