When did it happen? When did my little boy get so big? It doesn't feel like it's been ten years since we held a fuzzy-headed Zac in the hospital for the first time. But it's true, today Zac reached the double digits. He celebrated yesterday with a Star Wars themed party with several friends. He helped me plan the party and was so excited Saturday morning that he couldn't wait for wrestling to get over so we could go home and get everything ready. We played "Pass the Death Star" and "Star Wars Bingo". Then the boys had a session of "Blaster Training" where they used our large supply of Nerf guns to take shots of the villian targets. That got them wound up, so we went outside for an "Asteroid Hunt". Much like an Easter egg hunt, but the prizes were wrapped in foil and scattered around the yard. They were pretty hard to spot. We had cupcakes, Yoda Soda and opened presents. They finished up by watching a Star Wars movie until it was time to go.
Zac had a great time and enjoyed the day dedicated to one of his obsessions... Star Wars. Other current obsessions include Legos, Wii and chess. I try to keep the geek teasing to a minimum, but I love my little "nerd". He's so smart, thoughful, witty and creative. He can build just about anything and school is a breeze for him. Watch out Bill Gates, Zac will be taking over some day.
Opening their "astroids"
Use your imagination and you can tell this line of cupcakes forms a light saber. I can't take credit for this idea... hours of blog surfing provided this easy solution for a Star Wars cake.
Yoda Soda... lime sherbet in Sprite.
Later that day, Grandpa and Grandma Campbell and Aunt Anne came over for a small family party. Zac finally got a couple of Star Wars Lego sets. Todd and I gave him a DSi. He and Kiarra immediately started "chatting" with each other and laughing. Gee, why can't they play that nice without a screen between them.
Looks like a fun party with some grest ideas. It's both fun and sad when the kids get older isn't it.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Zac!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you all survived the week and are well again.
