Happy Birthday Max!

What a day! I was a little sad because my baby is now 5 and Max was a little sad because he was sick. But we made the best of it.

Max woke up about 7:30 with a nice cough and a fever. The rest of the kids were already gone to school so he got to open his traditional breakfast present on mom's bed. Being the spoiled baby in the family, he got to do whatever he wanted for the rest of the day. He spent HOURS on the computer, watched some Disney Channel and had permission to stay in his jammies all day. (I joined him and didn't get dressed until 3:00) Awesome! This year is on "odd" year, so Max doesn't get a friend/themed party. He's planning on having a special play date when he gets feeling better. So, our lack of theme really showed in our birthday celebration...but it did show all of Max's favorites. Max chose...
Ice Age Cake

Toy Story Balloons
Handy Manny banner and plates

Cars wrapping paper
Around noon when his fever was up again, we decided we better call Grandpa & Grandma Campbell and Aunt Anne to cancel the birthday party. He was pretty sad...so I caved and let him open 1 present. Like I keep saying, he's my baby and he has me wrapped around his little finger.
Finally, Finally...it was time for Dad to come home so we could have our LITTLE family party. Todd made it for dinner...Max's choice of mini-cheeseburgers and fries.
We were just about to start the "party" when Todd got a call and had to RUN off to catch a baby. Poor Max...he still had to wait to open the gifts....once again, I felt bad for the kid and let him open 1 more present! (such a sucker)

Kiarra had to leave for Young Women so she missed the rest of the party that finally got under way about 8:00 that night when Todd got home. We opened gifts quickly, played a little bit and had cake and ice cream. Max loved all his gifts and a big thanks to all the family that sent packages!
It takes A LOT of concentration to come up with the perfect birthday wish!

Max had to wait around a lot today, and I was VERY impressed with his patience. He is a VERY competitive and busy little guy. Today, Max was pretty flexible and understanding. I think he just enjoyed being King of the House today. Happy Birthday to a fabulous five year old!

  1. Pei pa koa is pretty decent cough medicine (from herbal as I remembered), great non alcoholic medicine, some western cough medicine are more effective, but this is non drowsy.
