Spring Break

I thought it was time to recap our Spring Break adventures. (I think our school district's Spring Break was the last one scheduled in the state.) We had from the 16th to the 20th to relax a little...and we did...just a bit. On Friday we waited for Todd to get calves settled then we went on down to Chuck E. Cheese. Sophia had been working hard for this reward and it was her choice. We weren't too sure we'd have to pay up...but oh well. We spent 3 hours there and all the kids had a blast. Have to say that the Layton restaurant is much cleaner and in better shape than the Orem location. Sorry no pics, but I was in such a hurry to hit the road that I forgot the camera. A pretty big sin in my book.

Saturday and Sunday were spent cleaning house, going to church and having some late game nights.

Monday, with the dads being busy, my friend, Liz, and I bravely decided to pack our kids up and go to temple square. We took the kids to the Church History museum and then on a tour of the Conference Center.
Tour guides received a lot questions.Zac and Wyatt relaxing in a replica of bunks from the hold of ship. They said it was pretty comfortable. We tried to convince them that those wood planks wouldn't feel so good if they slept with the whole family in that bunk for weeks on rough waters. The children's section of the museum was a favorite spot. We spent a lot of time there. Zac made his attempt to build a temple.Morgan spent some time coaching Zac on how to hold on to the rod of iron and stay on the straight and narrow path.
A great corner of the children's section had a nursery. Complete with pretend sinks, layettes, scales, birth certificates, doll blankets and clothing. Perfect for a 6 year old girl.
Plenty of biblical dress-ups. Even though I only ended up with a shot of these four, all the kids spent time dressing up and putting on a little play.
Max making his stained glass window for the Nauvoo temple. Here we are in the massive auditorium of the Conference Center. The kids and moms loved this building. We loved the fountain in the lobby. Our tour guide wore the kids out though, because he was pretty intent on discussing each of the paintings in the building.Tired, hungry kids taking a break in the elevator. On the roof of the Conference Center. It was so warm and beautiful up there. It was hard to remember we were on a roof instead of taking a walk in the park. All the trees and plants have gotten so big that it just amazes me that it's all on the roof! After the Conference Center we had a late lunch and then headed home.

Tuesday we went over to Grandpa and Grandma Campbell's to have lunch and help Grandpa with some spring yard work. We hurried home for scouts and dance lessons which was the first sign that spring break was over. Bummer. It was a good break and gave us a taste of summer. (And then there was rain, lightening, hail and wind the rest of the week. Gotta love it!)
