The "Farm"

I have been asked several times how the "farm" project is going. As you can tell by the quotes, I'm still trying to deny that Todd is turning my home into a farm. The calves are all doing well now. Todd had a few that were sick for a while, but having a doctor for a farmer is a good thing. They all received excellent care and most made a comeback. We lost one a few weeks ago...taking the numbers back down to 9. Luckily the one that died didn't belong to any of the kids. It was Liz's calf. (Because the moms haven't really appreciated this project, the last two calves purchased were "given" to us. "My calf" is still healthy. I don't know why they call it mine. I don't do ANYTHING to take care of them.)

Todd and Rob just finished fencing in this pasture area for the calves. Zac and Todd built this trough.
My kind of farm animals. I know a lot of people don't like cats, but I've always loved 'em. On Memorial Day we picked up these cute kittens from my aunt. Hopefully they'll help with the field mice. Stormy on the left, Toby on the right. The kids are thrilled to have soft pets to play with...the turtle really isn't great to cuddle with.

  1. I have pet envy. Allergies prohibit us from having a cat. And the puppy is driving me crazy!

  2. Adorable kittens! We have had ours for a little over a year now. I have to say even though I resisted getting pets for many years they are great. They are laid back sweet cats! Even I have grown to love them.
I hope you enjoy your cats as much as we do.

Side note: I recently found Michele on Facebook. Dona also. I am friends with both of them now. Michele has a blog. I keep thinking I will add her to my list but haven't done it yet.

  4. What a great post, calves, cats, now all you need are some pigs. Be sure to take pictures when they arrive.

  5. I am glad to see that you have posted about the calves...since I don't ever think to take pictures while we are there. I probably should have been taking pictures. I think we might have to have pictures of the calves for 4-H, but I am not sure. Anyway I love that you post about it, I will have to remember to take pictures at some point.
