We celebrated the 4th of July here at home surrounded by friends. Again our friends the Routsons stayed at our house and the Stays came up to their vacation home next door. Johnson's joined us as well. Saturday night we had a BBQ and did fireworks with the kids.

Desperate for a little shade, we partied on the driveway.
I decided to go festive and even made a flag cake. I love the 4th of July almost as much as Christmas!
I'm obsessed with this baby. Kaitlyn is such a cute, petite little doll. We keep trying to convince her parents to let us keep her...but so far, they always remember to take her with them when they leave. Dang!
Spirited out!
"Patiently" waiting to start fireworks.
We fired off several parachute fireworks. The kids chased them all over the fields. I think it was more entertaining for the adults than the kids.
By Monday the kids were getting a little more worn out from their late nights. Who knew corn could be so much fun? They all jumped to help and I let them get the work done. It kept them very happy for about 20 minutes.
Unfortunately the long weekend wasn't all good. On Sunday Kevin's mother fell and shattered her leg. The Stays spent the next few days making her as comfortable as possible until she had her surgery on Thursday. They've reported that surgery went well and she is now recovering and trying to keep off her leg for the next 3 MONTHS! We hope she has a smooth recovery!
Thanks everyone that joined us! And thanks for the yummy food...(i.e. Kim's sweet rolls and Kevin's deep dish pizza)!
