On June 20th we received word that Todd's grandma had passed away. Verla was an incredible woman that spent most of her life serving others. Even at 92 she had an amazing memory. She kept us all up to date on family news and she NEVER forgot the birthdays of her 20 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 23 great-great-grandchildren. My kids have a lot of great memories of stopping to visit her. When we first lived in Layton we could count on weekly visits every Tuesday. Verla also came to the hospital to visit each of my babies when they were born.

Verla's in pink in the center surrounded by a lot of her posterity at the reunion in '09.
We drove up to Baggs, WY, where Verla spent most of her life, for the funeral. (Check the map...it's halfway across the state on the Colorado border...a very small town.) The kids enjoyed the adventure and were pretty happy to be on a "road trip". Todd's brother, Brad, had flown in from Houston and drove home with us. (Anyone that can survive 5 1/2 hours in a car with my kids is pretty amazing. Thanks, Brad for entertaining the kids and keeping Max in a car seat.)
Todd, Brad and their dad. As you can see, it was a very windy day.
Verla Lowe Miller will be missed. However, we are all comforted knowing that she is now pain-free and enjoying a different reunion...one with her eternal companion and many of the family members that have gone on before her.
