Happy Happy Birthday!

Today... (it's still today in my world) March 18th, was Sophia's 6th birthday. Thank goodness she has a big bash planned on Saturday, because as far as birthdays go, it pretty much bombed. Todd and I knew the evening would be crazy, so we surprised her with lunch at McDonald's. I know that doesn't seem like a big deal to most, but I really have come to hate hanging out in fast food playplaces. They always feel so gross to me. I hardly take them there to play (I think it'd been 8 or 9 months). So Sophie and Max were super excited today. Here's sorta what took place today:I always give the kids a small gift at breakfast. Notice the happy faces. Yep, those are my girls! What's to smile at when it's 6:00 am?

A quick cupcake at dinner. I had to rush out the door for a couple of other commitments and Todd was still stuck at the hospital.
Finally, Todd got home at 8:45 (I barely beat him). Sophia had been waiting patiently all day and was ready to open a couple of gifts. She got a new game for her cyber-pocket and...

this fun foam house. The kids had a great time piecing together this playhouse. By the time we had it together, it was so late that everyone was rushed off to bed. Sophia is anxious to have time to play with her new things tomorrow.
I always ponder the day each kid was born on their birthdays. Of course it always amazes me how quickly the years have passed. It's hard to believe that 6 years ago, Sophia was lying in the NICU scaring us to death. Some things don't change. Even though she's healthy, she still scares us. Someone that full of life and spunk is bound to get into trouble. The parenthood ride has already been rougher with Sophia than with Kiarra and Zac. Who knows what the next 6 years will bring? Oh well, all that spunk is one of the things I love most about Sophia. (Something I have to remind myself often.) Happy Birthday, Curly Sue!
